I've been asked to produce some models in a web ready format, so that they can be uploaded to our web viewer in either GLB or glTF. Cinema 4D is the program I know and enjoy - I don't really have experience in any other 3D modelling programs, so I'm a bit tied to it.

I've been struggling with this for a while now. I had to recreate all my redshift materials as PBR materials, and after a lot of tweaking I've got this looking really good. I have spent weeks on this getting the workflow right - exporting the Cinema 4d model as a GLB model and optimising it, without losing textures or breaking the model.

Having got that perfected, I'm now trying the process on another model, and this model needs to have named animation tracks. But this seems to be unsupported?

After some research I found this post: https://cineversity.forums.maxon.net/topic/375/name-animations-glb/4 - and also a youtube tutorial which involves exporting to FBX and then converting to GLB. This method creates named animation tracks from the take system perfectly.... But it breaks all the materials I spent so long working on.

Is there anyway to export to GLB or glTF from C4D, with both materials and animation tracks intact, or do I need to start learning blender or something?

It appears you have a lot of "Non Manifold" topology in the model causing this. This means that some edges belong to more than 2 polygons and this is not considered "good" topology.
The textured polygon is just a square inside a precomposition. I want to rotate the 3d model around its centre around the Y axis rotation so it looks like a spinning donut. When Y axis rotation is set to 0 the particles seem to be oriented properly to the 3d model (not 100% properly properly aligned though but closer), but as soon as I rotate the base form (or even world transform rotation) the particles also begin to rotate in weird ways.

At 0 degrees Y rotation (same for both base form or world rotation)
(Close to being correctly oriented around the torus but still not 100% correct):

By the time it reaches degrees 150 degrees rotation (same for both base form or world rotation)
By this time the particles have completely started rotating weirdly not what I want:

It's tricky to tell but the particles themselves seem to be rotating individually in their y axis which is not what I want to achieve..... I have baked the torus and aligned the normals. This happens when both when the 3d object is 'Normalized' in the Form 3D Model settings and also when it when it is not. It happens when particles are set to face, vertices or edges and volume....
I am not sure what I am doing wrong but have spent a full day trying to get these particles to align properly.

I would really appreciate any help getting to the bottom of this issue...
