Beatles hairstyle model

Hello,

Very new to C4D and this seems like a basic enough question, but does anyone know how to replicate the style of the hair in the attached image by the artist, Kibooki?

I've made a decent attempt using the sculpt tools but I can't change the base shape once the sculpt tag is attached after subdivision, so this means that I can't accurately place the mesh by moving around the points.

It looks basic enough that I feel like it could be achieved by the extrude tool but the waves are very organic and uniform.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
