Sketch up model CD4/Redshift latest version
-
New to CD4/Redshift.
I'm after some help with importing my sketch up model (which is a kitchen) into cinema 4D/Redshift to prepare for render. The issue I am having is on import all elements are set as one object (as I did not individualise these). Is there a way I can explode faces so I can then add redshift materials and have the model appearing better? -
Hi native-education,
Please try this one:
Main Menu> Tools> Convert> Polygon Islands to Objects.
If that splits up too much, in the Object Manager> Objects, you will find options to return two or more selected objects to one: "Connect and Delete."
Let me know if that works for you.

Thank you so much. I will give this a go. Another issue I am having is I imported an archicad model for another project. I have had success creating the scene until today. When I add redshift glass material to the windows of the project and override what was there from Archicad the glass is turning into a grass material. This is also showing up with the grass image but is saying glass so obviously my windows are green. Have tried other glass materials and now other materials to other things and its all turning into this grass!! Any help would be much appricated as I'm quite far in now.

Hi native-education.
Thanks for the feedback.
New questions require a new thread, otherwise things become unreadable. Thanks for considering.
Typically, the materials should be assigned in ArchiCad directly so you can use an updated version of the Data and the same materials. Otherwise, it is constant extra work.
Please go to the Material Manager and click on the green material. Then, have a look at the
Attribute Manager> Assign list. Is there one or more objects on the list?Since I have no data on this, I will share one more.
However, if that model is the one you like to work with, there are a few options.
Each of them needed information on whether the grass and window objects arrived as one object in Cinema 4D.
If so, you can use Polygon selections to separate your needed materials. I would select the grass, which is undoubtedly outside the house, and set one polygon selection. Make a copy and invert the selection.
That should give you the data to apply to a single object, more than one material, while specifying the area of use. To explode the polygon islands here might create just an unmanageable number (grass blades based).Either fix it in Archicad, which is a better workflow or do it with selections (which needs to be redone with each updated version of the model, not suggested if any updates are expected).

Thanks I imported the model again. Everything again going great and its now done the same thing. I deleted an archicad material in material manager then added a redshift material. The redshift material is saying the correct name but the image of the material (which should be pebbles) is showing grass material image. Fortunately in render view it is showing as pebbles but it would be nice to know how to fix this.
Thanks!

Hi native-education. If you can share the Archicad model (I'm expecting a new serial any time soon. Currently, I'm out of a license.), I can look into it. (My first Archicad license was v4.5, in 1994) The best option is to have a C4D file for now.
I only open Dropbox, Google, Adobe, Apple, or WeTransfer cloud services for security reasons. Please do not use a third-party shortened URL.
Tip, copy the file that holds both files, then delete from the first the part you don't want there, then in part 2 the one that is already in part1. Then apply the new Materials. Name them wisely.
My best wishes
