One boolean as cutaway for multiple objects at once

Can you show how to create a cutaway/cross-section of multiple objects (with their own materials) using a single object as the cutaway? (See example) After importing a STEP file with many object layers, I have to create a boolean for every internal object so that the final looks like a single cube was used for the cutaway of all. There has to be an easier way.

Unfortunately we do not have a simple way of doing this. The only way is to make sure all the models are properly modelled and Use Boolean Generators.
