Dynamic Collisions Causing Colour Change
-
Heya guys - I'm wanting to achieve an effect in C4D but don't have a clue how I'd go about it / if it's even possible.
I want to have furniture come through a conveyor belt like system, and be met with some vertical hanging ropes. My reference is automatic car washes we have here in the UK - you drive your car through, and the hanging ropes clean your car as you move through.
This is obviously quite easily achieved with dynamics. HOWEVER I want to take this a step further and create something where any interaction between the rope and the object leads to a colour change. Imagine that the ropes are covered in a paint-like substance and as the furniture comes through, it's leaving some of that colour on it, so when it comes out the other end, it has an organic pattern.
So is there a way in C4D to have dynamic collisions between objects lead to a colour change?!

Hi swim-package,
Please have a look here:
CV4_2023_drs_23_SIpo_01.c4dIs this what you like to have?
All the best

This is exactly what I was looking for - thanks so much!
So how would this work if I wanted to drive my diffuse colour within Redshift. Would I use Color User Data to achieve this?

Hi swim-package,
This is exactly how it is set up. See image.
It is based on the Vertex Map Tag. This Tag, while named wisely, is inside of the Vertex Attribute.
The Freeze layer stores the data.If you need additional colors from Splines that hit later, use another Vertex map Tag, drive the next mask with it, and adjust the color of that layer.
Cheers
