Hi haniel1107,
There has been since "ever" a plug-in available for this work. Here is a video from eight years ago;

Hello Dr. Sassi,
thanks for your reply. I am a DEM Earth user since ever. But I would say the results are by far not so good like with the google add-in for blender.
Also the high prices and the costs for any kind of support vs. the free google add-in are worth to mention.
But to be fair, I am judging just by the youtube video… but it looks amazing… -
Thanks for the feedback, haniel1107!
Let me give you a little background here, why I'm internested in that:
It has been a while (2007?) since I presented Cinema 4D at the Art Directors Guild here in Los Angeles.
The theme was set to preview and prepare. I used Sketch-Up back then to pull the data from Google and shared it with Cinema 4D. From there, I used the Sun Light object with the Sun Expression Tag to define the day and time of the sun's direction and to know where the light was needed, which lenses could be shot on, etc. My presentation went well for the hundreds of guests during that meeting. Having studied other film stuff, Set-Design certainly helped back then.
My partner shot during the weekend images for the Google Earth project (Run here in L.A. by Igloo), and I helped her on the weekends. So, yes, I'm a little bit familiar with the project, especially when it started back then.Long story short, I'm certainly happy to support your request, but please submit to the Share Your Idea. Maxon pushes things up when lots of votes come in.
I will write a feature Request on my own. Fingers crossed, this will happen. Looks great now.
Thanks for your post!
Cheers

Hello,
thanks for the tip. I just wrote to "share your ideas".
Must say, your small excerpt from your career sounds very interesting.
I can imagine that just with all the AI hype everything is upside down and again an interesting and uncertain development is ahead, right?
Thanks again and best,

Thanks a lot, haniel1107. Very nice of you. Fingers crossed.
Yes, I love this city and everything that happens here; it is the Partner city of Berlin, by the way, where I lived before.
So, a feature request is made from my side as well.
Thanks again for starting this; it was requested before, but perhaps now is the time to complete it.
Enjoy
