Objects position and rotation
-
It might be kinda newbie problem...
I have stp model with about 1400 objects in it. All objects (which form one larger machine) are heavily ofo their axis center. Fixing axis center is easy, but all objects rotation is also off. Is there a way to fix all objects rotation at once without breaking their actual position and rotation? Tnx in advance!

Hi Purchase-interaction,
Images do not tell me a lot. What you see in the images is not what I see. For me, it looks OK, as I have no idea what it should look like.
With images, I'm left to interpret what I see and start guessing. I understand that you don't like sharing the project file with 1400 objects here.
Suggestion 1
If you like to rotate the whole object, place all of them under a Null Parent, then rotate that Null.Suggestion 2
Use the Freeze options if you like to have all objects as they are, and no visible change, but all rotations are set to zero. Select all and use the Attributes Manager> Coordinates> Freeze Transformation> Freeze All.I hope the two guesses will help; otherwise, to share more, Perhaps create a tiny example file and share more details. I'm happy to look into it.
All the best

Thank you for your quick answer!
I do not need to rotate the whole object. I need to reposition and rrotate some objects. If their rotation is slightly off (approx. 9.6355 °), then it is quit unpleasant task.
I tried your second suggestion... but maybe I misunderstood something.
I uploaded stp and c4d models here. Those are not very large - CD file is about 50 megs. Step file is about 150 megs.

I would really appreciate if you could take a quick look.
Thnx! -
Thanks a lot, purchase-interaction, for the file. So much more information.
The whole model was slightly titled. You can see that in the right or left view.
So I used the Parent to get it back to a leveled orientation (R.P. -0.3645º)
With that being done, I selected all but the Parent and used the Axis Tool, as shown in the image.
This left me with another problem, as the Parent had a tilted Axis but leveled polygons)
So I called up a new Null, selected all children of the previous group (Parent null not selected), dragged all under the new Null, copied and pasted the name to the new Null, and deleted the old Null.
There are other ideas to do that, but with this amount of elements, I prefer this method.

Thanx a lot dr. Sassi!
I tried same steps and got rid of this little tilt among all objects. This was the real aim.
Altho, once you create new null by itself it is in centre and when your move all children under new null they stil be way off the centre. I selected all children and then created new parent /null) for them (opt+g), then created new null to centre, moved all children to new null (on the centre) and copied coordinates of previously created parent null to new null. Then zeroed all cordinates of the new null. That fixed parent tilt. Altho... for some unknown reason position of the new null is not exactly the same as created group null... but this on I will figure aout myself. Thanx once again! -
It's nice that you got your results, purchase-interaction.
My muscle memory avoids the group null, even if it has been fixed for a year. (It screwed up animation back in the day).
My best wishes for your project

P.S.: It is relatively related, but I think Quick-Tips do not need to be pushed but a link to them is hopefully convenient - here it is
