Xpresso Driven Animation.c4d I have been following this tutorial to stick a texture to a bunch of clones. Everything works fine until I get to the last section where Xpresso is supposed look at the hierarchy-index of my objects and connect them back to the index of my rigid body cloner.

My objects only move to the initial position of the cloner-when I hit play the don’t attach to the clones as in the tutorial. I don’t use Xpresso much, so I’m not sure if I’ve done something wrong or if there has been an update and the tutorial is incorrect.

Attached is a very simplified version of the project and what I’m encountering. I’m trying to use this technique for a much more complicated logo reveal, but I’m stuck at this step.

      Hi Johnny,

The Simulation takes over, and that data is not directly available.

      Please have a look here:

The Matrix object forces the data, which can then be retrieved for the group of objects.

Let me know if that works for you.

      Enjoy your weekend

Thank you very much. I think I will be able to make that work for me.

Out of curiosity, did something change in the versions where it was possible that it was possible to do this in the tutorial, but isn't possible now?

          You're very welcome, Johnny.

Sorry, the tutorial is a bit long; I clicked quickly through it.

I checked a few older versions with the Bullet system, which was the main Dynamic option. I have no idea what the one in the tutorial did. If I recall correctly, I would have used the bullet parts of XPresso.

Two examples of older versions were set up a few minutes ago. Outdated, of course. Just in case you like to look into those.

Since we are using the new simulation system now, my question is, what do you need?

Besides, I often use the iteration/object list combination instead of the hierarchy.

          All the best

The matrix object was what I needed, I was just trying to understand how the author of the tutorial got it to work before and if there was something I needed to be on the lookout for in the future.
            Thanks for the explanation,
            Johnny
