    BPM Markers problem

      Hi!

      I'm trying to use the Create Markers command in BPM mode in the Timeline, but am having issues.
      It does not give me the expected result.

      Below is a dropbox link to a simplified project with a kick drum WAV in 100 bpm as a reference, which I have brough in via the Special Track -> Sound command.

      So with that visual reference, when creating the markers I can tell that they are not placed correctly.

      Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I have really tried to follow the correct steps, so any input or help would be very appreciated.

        I have explored this for quite some time and looked into previous versions to see if they might allow us to produce those. Sorry…
        Sorry, that is not as it should be. I have also not found a simple workaround.

        This needs to be reported to tech support. I can do that, but please file a report if you like.

          I can report this to support as well, will do so later today.
          Meanwhile, I can use the workaround of a bpm sound file as a reference to set the markers manually.

            Hi Andreas,

            Thank you for doing this.

            When I take your file, and need 18 frames for the beat to match, my best workaround so far is, to set the total frame rate to anything that multiplies with 18 and then set that number of the multiplier in to the Multiple amount.

            The frame rate is 30, that means a 100BPM results in 18 frames per beat. Setting the total frames to 1800 and the number of Markers to 100 results is a good match, after that you can dial in the real time the whole sequence has, like 1237.

            Is that working for you?

              Hi Dr Sassi!
              My solution right now has been to load a sound file with a click track at a certain tempo via the Special Track -> Sound, check what frame length Cinema tells me it is, make that the Project Time, and then just add the number of markers corresponding to the number of bars or beats in the sound file. That seems to work well.
              There is often a slight mismatch between frames and beats, as they do not always divide neatly with each other of course, but it's close enough. 🙂
              I will check your solution as well though, thanks a lot for your help!
