How to remove small objects below a certain size automatically
-
I have a machine containing a lot of objects, ranging from large to very small in size. I need to clean the file by removing all objects below a certain size or volume. Like bolts and nuts. Can someone please tell me how to select those objects automatically instead of me sifting through these manually?
The machine is already textured. So I cannot just re-import and use the import settings for this. That's why I need to adjust the existing object that is already imported. -
Hi shine-negative,
To my knowledge, there is no option for that.
If I had to do it, with perhaps hundreds of objects, I would set up this XPresso to do it.
It has a slider that takes the diagonal length of the Bounding box and compares that with a value (See HUD). Then it sets the small parts to invisible.
Perhaps set all more significant parts to invisible, select the small ones in the editor view, delete or merge them to one object, etc.
I will create a feature request. It sounds like a tremendous help to have a tool for that
All the best

Wow Dr. Sassi! Thank you for your support. I will test this one as I have a project where this would be very useful. The reason why I need this is actually because I want to create an explode view animation of a machine. Unfortunately, with all the mograph and effectors my PC (not the smallest one) can't handle this. That is why I was wondering if there is a way to decrease the amount of small sized objects in my model. While trying, I noticed that there is no easy way to setup an explode view animation in C4D. In Blender and even in Solidworks there are easy ways to create this. Why not in C4D? So I also created a feature request for this. I think lots of artists out there would like to use this effect. Hope this helps. Greetings
