@maxonadmin
hi, about the 4.35 minutes, when i make the subdivision cube editable - i can only edit the cube - not the subdivision ones.
I'm using cinema4D 2023!! -
Hi bill-commet.
The Cube is editable. This one is the source for the Subdivision Surface Generator (SDS). The SDS by itself can't be edited.
You can make the SDS editable, but this is not the content of the steps around the time 04:35 (Thanks for the time, BTW)
Is that answering your question?
Cheers

4.35 - having the same issue. As soon as I make the Cube editable I only have a Cube's polygons to edit (6 sides) and not all the polygons as is shown in the video. Ref: https://snipboard.io/4QB3f8.jpg
Using 2023.1.3 -
Solved: For anyone struggling, make sure isoline editing under options is switched on (alt+A)

Hi class-sympathy,
The isoline editing places/projects the edge in question on the sub-divided geometry; It remains in the resolution of the six-sided cube in your example.
The generated new edges can't be changed with selection or with the other tools.
The only option is the SDS weight, which only changes the result of the provided edges of the "underlying" geometry.
SDS Object information can't be directly changed. It is either based on changes in the provided object or the SDS weight tag.
All the best

My brain was melting because of this. Thanks very much for the fix

Thank you very much, quit-fan, for the feedback.

This solved my exact problem. For some reason this option is disabled by default in 2023.2.0 while all the video tutorials I watched have this already on.

Hi FaustBleu,
Alt/option + a should work.
Check the entry in the
Main Menu> Window> Customize> Command Manager. Search for Isoline. The Entry for Isoline Editing should show the shortcut. To be complete, that is not working if segments (vs. polygons) are under the SDS. Any generated object will not work. Like a polygon cube under an SDS under another SDS, only the first instance of SDS will provide an Isoline-editing from the polygons.
If problems continue to exist, please check with the support.

Hi test-heat,
Thanks for sharing!
I hope you can see something positive in struggling. It always indicates that you are growing.
How often have you had that feeling in areas you take now for granted? Keep that in mind. In, Through, and Out.
It is a cycle. We get so used to what we know, but if we look back at how much it has cost us to get there, the easier it is to endure those times we experience right now, as we can imagine the positive outcome.
Besides, please share your questions in the Q&A forum so things speed up and you can focus more on creativity.
Enjoy
