      Good morning!

This is a bit of a long shot, but I was learning how to use cinema 4d for the first time and came across the great resource that was your 500 materials pack. I'm currently using a newer version of the program, so unfortunately I keep getting the 'Dirt' missing error. By any chance, do you have the attachments you made from this post ten years ago? http://www.cineversity.com/forums/viewthread/1457
If not, which version of cinema 4d did you use when you made it? The resource is great, so I'd really like to find a way to use it. 🙂

Thank you for your time and hard work!

(sorry this is in the wrong section, im on chrome and it's only letting me pick site issues even when i enter question & answer)

        Hi possible-chart,

The Dirt Shader, as mentioned in the link, follows more this setup.
        CV4_2024_drs_24_STdi_01.c4d

Take a look at the Layer Shader. It combines an AO shader and a Noise shader to get the "dirt" into areas that do not get cleaned based on normal contact.
Change the Noise pattern and scale for a different outcome, and in the AO shader, the Shader's Min/Max Ray Length to get a suitable amount for your model.

Perhaps you should also look into the Weathering
My tip is to check out Substance from Adobe for those detailed, model-dependent reality textures.

Plug-ins from that time have a good chance to be written in C.O.F.F.E.E., which is no longer part of the options; an alternative could have been Python back then, which was version 2, and version 3 is needed now. Even if it was coded in C++, I believe changes since the API might have set this plug-in to EOL.

Good Morning to you, from close to midnight here in L.A.

@Dr-Sassi Thank you so much for your reply! I wasn't expecting one so soon, thank you so much ! 😄 I've tried messing around with the settings on a new file and I've been getting some cool results. I still get the dirt error though, this time with 'Redshift' as well - that means i need to buy that plugin right? Will ignoring the plugin warning break my design files if i save them?

I also wanted to ask, i tried using a water style material on a practice piece, but it seems to create a weird pixellated pattern, even when i render it. Here is an image of what it looks like - https://pasteboard.co/Lr8UR9oNDd8m.png . Do you think this is an issue with me missing some textures?

Sorry if the questions seem a bit repetitive, im new and i dont go to an arts college so i can only ask around 🙇

Thank you from all the way in the UK !!

            Hi possible-chart,

I'm not familiar with pasteboard.co (So I don't touch it). Images can be uploaded here with a maximum height of 500 pixels.

Instagram is approved, Dropbox, Apple, Adobe, Google or Wetransfer.

Let me ask you instead: Is that a Windows machine? That is a common question lately, and it needs to be mentioned to tex-support, so it has a lot of requests.
It is hard to tell if you need to buy the dirt plug. Have you considered painting the dirt into the model with Paint (Body Paint 3D)?

For new questions, please always open a new thread; otherwise, it will be hard for others to find the information. Please share reference images in the thread of what you mean by Water Style. Water is used as a shader-based setup, or watercolor is used as a paint style, etc.

            All the best

@Dr-Sassi Hello! my apologies, i will write my question with the image in another thread. I hadnt realised I could attach images here - when i pressed the image icon it came up with the (image url) descriptor, but i guess my image didnt work - sorry!

and yes, I'm using windows 10 at the moment! 🙂

              Thank you!

Thank you very much, possible-chart. 🙂

There is no need for sorries here, but thank you! I only try to keep it safe and organized.

Image height is 500 pixels, and JPG is certainly a working format.

I guess that Windows and perhaps some other influences create that problem. I assume other influences since I can't see a significant number. Hence, the idea is to provide this data to tech support. I would be surprised if it boils down to a specific graphic card. We will see.
That is the organized way for developers to get the data bundled and sorted.

If you have a minute to create a ticket, that would be great.

Anyway, sorry for the trouble, not fun.

                My best wishes
