In C4D Lite can I control certain parameters of child layers within an extrude parent - specifically the materials and caps settings?

I tried applying materials to the individual child layers, but they don't show up.

Also, I wanted to make certain caps adjustments, but it seems I only have the option to adjust caps to every child layer by selecting the parent extrude layer and making the caps settings from there.

I did make a separate parent extrude layer, but I'd like better to understand the workflow of adjusting parameters specific to a child layer within a parent. Do I need to add each layer to its own extrude parent or is there a way to work on parameters of each child within one extrude parent?

        Hi fold-tennis,

I have problems following this, as the Extrude layer is not a term I have heard of in my decades of using Cinema 4D. Do you mean Spline objects under an extrude?

Please add a simple file (c4D and below 1MB)

You can have only one cap design, well, two "Start" and "End".

Selections are per object, while polygon selections have five different one Main body: Round (R1 and R2) and Cap (C1 and C2) 1 and 2 is Front and End.

If you create a copy and make it editable (C key), the individually created Polygon selection can be dragged to the Original one and then used in the Material selection.

If you can create editable setups that allow for a faster procedure but limit adjustability.

General questions are often difficult to answer shortly; please, if possible, share a file.

        Thank you

        Cheers
