Scene Nodes
-
Hi, Scene Nodes have been out there for over 6 years, but from the start, it has been like some secret area Maxon does not want you to understand or use. I've tried to get a grip and understand how it can help me as a C4D user, but it's difficult as there is very little material that would make a serious take on explaining how it works, how it's meant to work, and what it won't do...just bit's and pieces. I would imagine 6 years would be enough to put proper knowledge out there, so the users would start to benefit from it. When I search for Scene Nodes in Cineversity, there is very little to be found. I've been getting into Houdini also, and it takes like a few weeks and there is already a great explanation about the new feature, etc. Blender has an enormous amount of good tutorials about Geo Nodes, it just feels strange that Maxon does not prioritize making it accessible for the users.
It might be that I've been just very unlucky and haven't found what I'm looking for so I'm asking here, what are the best ways and places to understand what the Scene Nodes can and can't do...I feel it's a great addition to get more specific things done fast(er than going to Houdini), but when I try I'll be stuck soon (probably mostly expecting it to work as Houdini).
Thanks,

Hi Career-advertising,
Below is my personal opinion:
Yes, if you see the six years as a linear development with no input from testers, that is long.
I took three courses in Core 4D about nodes, and so far, I can tell that knowledge is very outdated, while they were not cheap. No longer available, BTW. That is a feeling that I do not want to give anyone here. So my point of view is that I wait until we get more training material.
I see those more as a development kit, which needs a lot of background and a savvy knowledge of Cinema 4D. This is due to the resistance I have seen over the past two decades with XPresso alone, and I am curious how Scene Nodes will be accepted. Surely, it is not more than XPresso, which means it is not a mainstream interest. However, there are many Capsules based on that, and Rocket-Lasso is surely one wizard with those.
The idea of Cineversity is to have tutorials covering subjects, and what is not clear in those or what needs extra attention is discussed in the forum.
I can't start teaching them here, as that would be a full-time job in its own right, as it goes deep, missing out on supportive material. Thanks for your input. I can surely see your point of view.
Have a great weekend.
