      Hello there,
I’m working on a scene where I’m using a Cloner with dynamics, along with effectors and some forces. However, whenever I try to bake or cache the simulation, the clones become static at their birth positions and the dynamics no longer play.

Do you know how I could resolve this?

      Thanks,
      Vali

The simulation starts at a later frame. Could it be something to do with timing?

The catch object is green, but when i disable the dybanc body, the simulation stops. Almebic isn't baking either. I am getting an empty null.

i found a workaround, but hey. Thank you. Seems that it wasn't baking as it was not seeing the children as geometry. I had to apply dynamics to all objects, and then it all worked.

If ever I have a chance to explain how to do this on the corner, that would be great. Seems that the apply to children tag has disappeared. 🙂

                Hi catch-place,

Please share a small file that highlights the issue, focusing specifically on the problem. Typically, it should be below 1 MB in size; then it can be uploaded as a C4D file. (Zip is not working and needs to be avoided. Thank you.)
If larger, please use Dropbox, WeTransfer, Google Drive, Apple Drive, or Adobe Cloud services only. Thank you, upload as is, not zipped. Please paste the URL here, without the HTML wrapper. Sorry for the long text - that is all about keeping it safe here.

Check the Rigid Body Tag > Dynamic > Deactivation.

                All the best

                    Hi catch-place,

I invested some time into it. I can't pinpoint what is going on in the file. However, copying and pasting it into an empty file allowed me to cache the file.

I did some changes, instead of deactivating the Rigid Body, I have set the trigger to "On Collision" and used a little cube to push them out.

Next, I explored the idea of moving the keyframes to the start and cache from there, which worked as well.

In the folder below you will find the "pasted" file, cached, but also an Alembic file, merged into a C4D file, so you can test.

There is a "deactivating" mechanic in the Rigid Body, but I was not able to pinpoint it to this in a given time frame (I invested a few hours to test, as the caching of the whole file with higher sampling/step rates took quite a while with my little Mac here.

                    File:

                    (Textures not included)

                    I hope that helps.

Let me know how it goes.

                    Cheers
