How to get a shadow to appear in a reflection but as a shadow matte.

I am trying to make a shot of a robot looking into a baul baul with the robot and the baul baul being in CG. The scene is lit with an hdri and I have the robot framed into the baul baul but I am having a hard time getting the robot to have a shadow within the reflection. I have put a plane underneath the robot and I can see the shadow there but I dont want to see the plane so. I then turned the plane into a shadow catcher material and used a RS object tag to make the plane hide from primary rays but then the shadows go with it.

Any ideas welcome:)

Please have a look at the example. I have set the shadow to yellow to see it more clearly. The sphere and the pole cast a shadow. Both are in the reflection of the sphere in the left upper corner.
