SSS Problems with cached cloner animation
-
Hello everyone,
I have a cached cloner animation with objects that have SSS properties in the standard material. Everything is fine at frame 0, but the further I go into the animation, the brighter the objects with SSS properties become.
When I deactivate the cache, everything is fine. The strange thing is that copies of these objects outside the cloner are also rendered incorrectly as soon as the cache is activated.
I would be very grateful for any tips! -
Hi Dani Fuchs,
Please share your file, as any A/B test I have done doesn't show that result. I have rendered different setups in the past hours.
If the file is below 1MB, it can be shared here as a C4D file.
For security reasons, please use only Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google, Apple, or Adobe cloud services. Upload uncompressed and share the full URL as text (no HTML wrapper). Thank you.Alternative, since this sounds more like a technical problem, please check with Tech Support:

Hello Dr. Sassi,
Thank you for taking a look at this. I have uploaded a cached scene via the link where the problem occurs (at least for me). The berries are as they should be at first, but then start to become brighter and brighter as the animation progresses.
To me, it looks as if the radius or depth of the SSS shader is changing, but these are not animated. There are generally no keyframes in the entire scene.DOWNLOAD: https://we.tl/t-qldMXNiThQ
PS: Even though the berries lie motionless on the ground from frame 30 onwards, I cached up to frame 100 because they become brighter during this time.
Thank you again and best regards,

Hello Dr. Sassi,
I contacted support and they were able to reproduce the error. Even though it appears to be a bug, I found a workaround for my project scene (in case anyone else has the same error):
The camera in my scene was set to direct overhead view, i.e. without perspective. When I changed it to ‘perspective’, the error disappeared.
Best regards and thank you for your help.

Thank you very much, Daniel,

For the file and the insight with the camera settings. This is interesting, and a great knowledge to have.
I render it here at the moment to see the effect.
I would have never guessed that you have an orthogonal camera as a problem trigger in the scene, hence why I love project files.
In case you wonder why I'm late to answer, I'm on Pacific Time, and it is my week off. But I'm interested in your findings!
My best wishes for your project
