      Hello Dr. Sassi,
I hope this message finds you well.

I'm trying to recreate the animation effect from the video, but I'm having trouble with the material transition. In the reference, the flowing material changes from glowing red lava into a black casting texture, but I can't seem to get that same result.

I'm wondering if the problem lies within my material setup. I would be very grateful if you could provide some guidance on how to tweak it to reach the goal. Thanks a lot!

Thank you very much for your time and help.
      Wishing you all the best,

      Gloria

Make a standard growing Vertex Map and then a secondary vertex map that uses the first one, remap it and add a Decay to create the falloff for the red material. Here's a basic setup: https://maxonvfx.com/askthetrainer_projects
find the "Cineversity Forum" folder "Grow Lava Material 01A.c4d"

You can use this basic setup in many different ways to create more convincing lava, and also in a material using a Vertex Attribute

and another version with a Volume and a material for the Lava. Press Play and render to see the result.
Same folder new name "Grow Lava Material 02A.c4d"
