NOTE: I can get it to kind of work if I use RSGeomIDColor instead of the mograph ID, but then the colors end up randomized, which is not the look I require.

RE: MoGraph RSMGIDRatioColor with Cloth Surface
I will make a ticket! And thank you for the project.
As for my issue, take that array you made and put into a SubD and/or a Cloth Surface and you will see my issue. It changes to one color. I need to smooth out my surfaces and add thickness via Sub D and Cloth Surface.

MoGraph RSMGIDRatioColor with Cloth Surface
Hello! (Sorry I still only have permission to post in "Site Issues".. please feel free to move this post.)
I have some squiggly cloth sim elements using RSMGIDRatioColor in the RS shader to assign a gradient of colors to a bunch of cloned objects. It works as expected, until...
I add final touches such as SubD or or Cloth Surface to smooth out the geometry, then it seems to override the mograph index and everything gets set to one color, which seems to be the first color in the gradient.
This seems like a common problem, and the solutions all seem to be "find a different way to do it"
Is there a workaround that I am not aware of?
Sorry, I'd post pictures if I could, but my network restricts that. Hopefully I've described it well enough. Thank you for any insight!

Follow up to flow along surface...
Sorry, I still cannot post or respond to posts in the Q&A.
The reference image I am working with is found here:

...the sphere of shapes where they are mapped evenly.
So while I agree that a spline makes this easy, the look I need a a flat swarm of particles that approach tangentially to one side of the sphere, evenly wrap around and flow spherically for X number of seconds. Surface Attract was working for this, but I cannot figure out how to align the particles along their path when using this modifier.

Flow along a surface with orientation
Hi, I'm trying to post a question in Q&A but only Site Issues is the only available option when I try to post the question.
I am trying to create a particle animation where 3D objects flow in in a stream and swarm around a sphere shape. They orbit around the sphere for 5-7 seconds then disperse.
My current approach is to use a basic emitter pointing at a sphere and using Surface Attract to have the particles swarm around the sphere.
It's pretty much what I am looking for. However, I cannot get the particles to align along their motion when affected by the Surface Attract. When I turn up "Align to Surface Rate" the particles spin rapidly when they meet the surface they are being attracted to.
Is there something additional I can apply to orient particles along their motion when using modifiers? Or a better approach to this multistep animation?
- Flock together toward a sphere
- Orbit around the sphere for X seconds
- Flow off screen towards a point in space
