Sticking texture on Alembic
-
I imported an alembic into Cinema 4D. I was able to apply a material, and a logo as a second material texture. The issue arises when i play my animation, the logo does not stick to the object. I have tried the pin material tag, and that does not work too.
One workaround I found was to apply the texture as a UV projection, rather than a Flat project(which I am currently using). However to use a UV projection, I have to make the object editable, after which it loses its animation properties that I imported in the form of an alembic.Any idea how can I add a logo texture that sticks along the animation to an imported alembic (i can even import in the form of an obj sequence, and face the same issues)

Hi Arya,
If possible, ask the creator to provide proper UV information.
Typically, I need the file to see what is going on.
I assume it is more significant than 1MB, so please share via DropBox, Apple, Adobe, Google, or Wetransfer cloud services. (Other sources will be ignored for security reasons.) Thank you.
If you don't have an option, I can set up an upload link from my DropBox (Please keep it small)
All the best

Hi Arya,
I haven't gotten a file, so here is a little workaround, but the key is that the segment amount must stay the same.
Alembic can handle changing Segment/Polygon counts, which excludes fixed UV solutions in the post; if the file doesn't have it, I'm not aware of a solution while leaving the Alembic as it is.
The video is 60 seconds long and showcases an Alembic to Obj-Sequence workflow while I adjust only one UV tag to rule the whole sequence.

Hi Dr.Sassi,
Thanks a lot for your reply. The little workaroud really helped and solved my problem for now! -
You're very welcome, Arya.
My best wishes for your project.
