    login-to-view

I have buttons and pockets that are part of a jacket.
Because they dont have identical skin weights, pockets and buttons dont stick to the jacket

If I adjust manually, its not exact. If I do automatically, this is the result once I rotate the spines.

How can we transfer identical skin weights in order to have objects move/rotate identically?
    thnx

      Hi cross-roll,

Is there a reason that was not modeled with the jacket?

After weighting, have you set the Binding pose correctly?

Automatically means with Vamp? Current version?

Thnx Dr. Sassi for the quick response!

Adding the pockets and buttons separately allowed me to place them easily and keeping the jacket poly clean. Other than that no specific reason other than making my life simpler while modeling.

As for the Vamp, I had never heard of it. Will def check it out!! It seems likeits what Ive been looking for
        Thanks again!

          You're very welcome, cross-roll.

Let me know how it works for you.

I would go with modeling if possible or try to match the geometry as much as possible. Please look at the file while the SubDivision Surface is off to see the problem. I have added a Surface Deformer example.
          Both are not my favorite.

Here, I tried a linear SDS of 1.0 before the soft one, which is typically not lovely for the character, but it might help explorations.

OMG you are so kind! This is fantastic. I will use it when working exclusively with C4d

I currently need to send characters that can be opened in Blender and Unity so this forces me to have everything through skin weight (might be wrong)

I will def follow your advice and try to avoid extra objects and model all together whenever possible

thnx Dr. Sassi, its really helpful!

              Thank you very much, cross-roll.

So far, I have always kept it as simple as possible. Thanks to your question, we had someplace here to explore, and I hope that helps others.

              So, thank you as well.

              My best wishes

                Hello Dr. Sassi!
I tested VAMP its amazing! Its what I had been looking for since a long time!!!! Its so useful!
I tried the Joint Weights transfer.

I was wondering if you can direct me to tutorials here in Cineversity or online explaining more about VAMP. Its easier for me to learn with videos. The transfer weight however was SO intuitive.

The transfer UV Map looks awesome too! And last but not least the mirror tool for pose morph. Been trying that one and dont get the results I was looking for, the mirror doesnt mirror completely
                thnx again!

                  You're very welcome, cross-roll.

Sadly, we have no up-to-date tutorial about the VAMP, and the old ones are not helpful for the current version.

Our good friend, Chris Schmidt, might have something in the right direction, but not directly for weight.
