Apply texture correctly in circular object?
-
Hello!
I'd like to apply correctly a texture with tiles to a circular object, split in segments, so the tiles follow the curve. It must be easy but I don't know how to do it correctly right now.
Attaching the sample scene.
Thanks!
Javier

Hi Javier,
Here is my version; I have shared three of them in the file below.
The problem with the Extrude and applying a circular pattern is that it is difficult to have it editable, as you describe it.
I have just taken a plane and used the bend deformer on it. I applied enough segments so I could use a Copy (Current State to Object) and select the gaps needed. I used this selection for the three versions.
In version three, I deleted just the polygons since this is one object with a straight UV map. The bend will create the circular text.Let me know if that works for you.
An alternative would be to create Concrete blocks, and Cloner them along the Circle, then (MoGraph) select the ones filling the wanted Gap and turn them invisible.
Enjoy your weekend

P.S.: here is an alternative.
The key is not to change the Spline length but the Sweep Amount.
First, rotate the Sweep to a starting point, then use the Sweep Growth amount to the segment's end point.https://stcineversityprod02.blob.core.windows.net/$web/Cineversity_Forum_Support/2024_PROJECTS_DRS/20240614_CV4_2024_drs_24_TXri_11.c4d.zip

Hi Dr.Sassi! I found the second option easier! Solved! Thanks a lot!
