Hello! I'm having problems understanding how to save multipasses with srgb profile.

Currently using Corona as render engine and in the color management linear workflow is checked . In the save output there is an option to set the color profile only for the regular image, but not for the Multi-Pass Image.

What would be the correct way to save the multipasses in psd with srgb color profile instead of linear?

      Thanks!

        Hi alex.nikolaus,

I have no idea about Corona (nor a license to begin with); that would be a question for a Corona forum.

Multipass isn't limited to image-based only. Data passes need to be RAW. This is the ideal "space" (not a color space) for linear light workflow; see NUKE, for example; a limitation would be changing the compositing, as the smaller space will have smaller Gamut and Clip colors. With this, most operations will lead to different results.

This is typically where Gamut Compression and Tone Mapping kicks in if sRGB is the target space, which changes most values to squeeze the otherwise clipped data into the super small sRGB space.

To composite and color-correct, this truncated Gamut will distort the color space even more. Use pure Linear Light and composite, then handle the the export for various target profile needs. Anything else is nothing I would suggest in 20024.

Again, this is not a Corona forum. But I hope the short information helps you decide on the next step with more options.

        Cheers

            You're very welcome, alex_nikolaus.

If there is anything else, please let me know. Multipass work has changed over the decades, and I'm happy to look into it as long as my apps allow it.

Sorry for the lack of Octane; it is not based on opinion; it is just a license shortage. 😉

            Enjoy your productions
