nodes, issues outputting object name to text spline
-
Hi, I'm working with nodes and I'd like to take the name of my node spline and output it via text node. At the moment I'm able to output other parameters through the text node and they output to geo just fine, but the name parameter doesn't output anything.
If I had to guess, I'd assume it's an issue with the datatype, but I can't seem to sort it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
This is the setup at it's simplest and I'll link to some images too.
Node Spline>Basic Information>Name Output----> Text node>Text Spline Input --------> Geometry -
Hi Broccolitree,
Currently, I do not dive into these Nodes. It is not entirely developed, so I wait before I invest time, and the little "Yellow Flask" shows that it is an experimental Node, which indicates an uncertain future for this one.
Without proper trainings-materials this would be an endless discussion here, which I can't provide.
I have placed a question about it. I will share it when I get it. Edit/ As expected, I got no answer/ edit
Thanks for your patience
All the best

@Dr-Sassi, thanks so much for your response! That's fair. I have a working xpresso rig that is production ready, but just wanted to explore another setup with nodes. I'll stick with that for now.
Also thank you for the insight regarding the "yellow flask". In effort to avoid those I rebuilt my rig using a standard scene node setup (no flasks). I tried outputting both Object Name and a string from user data and both output nullData. So it seems whatever the issue is, it isn't specific to the new Nodes Spline.
Still hoping to find out if this is user error or an issue with the nodes themselves, but I did find a solve.
My solution was to use xpresso tag to drive a scene node input with the object name and kick that string directly to the text node. Solved the problem by going around it.

Clever solution, Broccolitree, and thanks for your patience with this.
I love to work with nodes, so I even bought all three courses for this on Cycle4D a few years back. But nearly everything has changed since.
I know with certainty that it will be a great and fast system when it is fully released. I will dive in with no brakes on board then. For now, I would feel wrong to encourage people to invest too much time.
Anyway, with all of that said, we have already seen great capsules with it, and I believe it will only get better.
Enjoy
