      Hello
I'm having an issue with a "rope" effect I'm trying to create on a fairly small object. It is like an "air freshener" in a car, so the dimensions are pretty small.
I have a rope going through a hole in the tree, but I can't get it to fully collide and rest on the tree.
I'm very rusty with dynamics, but I'm also wondering if scale is an issue here?

I have a secondary problem, is that I need to duplicate this effect on multiple trees, and wanted to put the tree with the spline in a cloner, but seems like it won't animate inside a cloner. Probably because everything is inside a null?

      Thanks for any recommendations!

        Hi AlexC,

        Thanks for using dropbox.

        Here is your file back
        https://projectfiles.maxon.net/Cineversity_Forum_Support/2024_PROJECTS_DRS/20241001_CV4_2025_drs_24_SItf_01.c4d.zip

The hole in the tree was smaller than the Ropes' radius. I also have set the Gravity to 1%.

The file is cached; perhaps export it as Alembic and reimport it so you can change the timing to your needs.

Let me know if that is working for you.

        Cheers

          Hello Sassi

Thanks for this! Great to see the file!

Do you know how I could get this work inside a cloner? I tired with a connect object, but no luck...

          Thanks!

Thank you very much, AlexC, for the reply.

Would the Alembic route work? So the Dynamic is "baked".

Here, the Blend option in the Cloner is on, and the Timing is set in one abc instance differently. This is a suggestion; the abc file can be used alone under a Cloner.

            All the best

              Hello Sassi

Alembic wouldn't work because I need each rope to fall differently based on the rotation of a set of these trees. But its actually ok, I need to place them very precisely so I will be doing it by hand, there are not that many to place.

              Thanks again!!

                Hi AlexC.,

Particles work now with Cloners, as you had asked a while back, but Simulations with Ropes and a Collider in one seem to have problems 😉

This means we need to make Cinema 4D think it is one Rope. In other words, the split between Rope and Collider is required. That is not difficult, but it requires a central source to move them around, and that needs the setup that matches the Rope and the Collider (Tree) after Cloning. See file …_21.c4d

I tested it with a Random Effector (Pos/Rot) and it works. Please make sure to use ONLY the Matrix is changed.

                Enjoy.

Got it, understood. Thanks Sassi! That makes sense.

                    Hello again!
I just tried this with the setup I'm trying to create, and I'm pretty sure I followed your method, but somehow the dynamics don't seem to want to kick in.
Is there something wrong in my setup?

                      Hi AlexC,

Thank you very much for the file.

I have changed the radius of the Rope
I moved the Rope Tag up to the Connect
                      Then, reduced the gravity

Please check if that works for you now.

Amazing! That works so well and so smooth! Thank you very very much for guiding me through this, as always.
