Wanted to show the help window inside every layout as a split window.

If I drag and drop the help windows to a layout (Standard) as shown in the image, then switch to another layout say UV Paint and then return to the Standard layout, the help window disappears. This happens only if New Layouts is turned on.

How can I make this work so the help window stays inside every layout and can be toggled with CTRL + LMB click ?

      ![ced.jpg](Image dimensions are too big)
Also Why is a 586 x 521 pixel image too big for this forum ? 🧐

        Hi euro-family-flow,

This needs to be stored. Set up your interface and then use the menu that shows up when you go to the + button (on the right)

Save the new layout as a Startup Layout or as one with a name that makes sense to you.

Images higher than 500 pixels are not supported.

        All the best

          I did save them.

Example : Modified Standard Layout with Help in a split window and saved as Standard(H). Now if I unhide the Original Standard layout and drag the custom layout to its position, it works only if "New Layouts" toggle is turned OFF

With the "New Layout" Toggle button, the Custom Layout cannot be rearranged with drag and drop.

            Hi euro-family-flow,

As usual, I tested it (With the preferences set to Help> External Browser [off]. 2023-1, Mac.

With your new post, I tried as well new Layout on or off. It works here.

I'm not clear if you had the toggle on or off while creating the Layout.

            Cheers

As usual, I am not sure if you understand what I was trying to say.
The forum does not allow videos else could have shown a screen cap video.

With "New Layout" [OFF] the custom Layout tab can be repositioned using drag and drop.
When "New Layout [ON], it snaps back to then last in the list of layout tabs.

Also it's super confusing there is a button to upload an image, when adding a Post. But it does not allow sizes greater than 500px. To upload an "Image" for the Post, we have to use the "File upload" button. Overcomplicating things.

                Hi euro-family-flow,

Please have a look here: Screen capture 60 sec.

This is my result, trying any combination you mentioned or what I understood so far.

Please contact tech support, as I can't reproduce it here.

Tech support for cinema4d is useless.
With a turn around time of 2 business days, they will just make you run around in circles.

But this is trend that is noticed with several other "Closed Source" software. Unity 3D being the prime example. They push out buggy regional versions so people in "DVD Region 6 and above" will get a lower quality software, but the company will still utilise the indie users workflow to promote their preferred regions. (They call it "Analytics to improve the Software" 😉 When we worked with unity 2D we had a system that had the software from Australia and another one from India. Somehow the Indian version software had Game engine tweaks so the Game will not run properly. Don't know if Cinema4d has the same strategy. But if it does, It will be Karma if Blender kills Cinema4d in the future.

                    Hi euro-family-flow,

Sorry that you had a bad experience. To address this, please use the Contact Us option.

In general: Not a place here for this!

Please leave those things out of the forum; this is not a complainer blackboard or is this ever wanted. Thank you.
Especially not about our partner companies, we like to keep a good connection with Epic, and giving a space for ruining this is not our target at all.

If you have a problem with the support, please use the Contact Us options and write what is not working. It will be addressed.

Or give your dealer a call/email.

                    My best wishes

                    Cheers.

I think that would be great if you could (virtually) overwrite the built-in layouts if needed. But in case it could be set back to the default. I had the same issue. I want no other named layouts at all ( there are too much now )

                        Hi Gemini,

If you don't use them, then it feels like a waste of screen space, I understand. Sadly, I have no idea how to solve that for you.

My observation is that while having many files open, the file Tab pushes the Layout tabs to the right. Is this not working for you?

However, the best and most direct way to give Maxon your idea of how it should work is via "Share Your Idea".

Thanks for your answer. I have a lot of Ideas and I can share it sure. Let's discuss them. Honestly from this topic I could not get the info how to overwrite/modify the standard layouts. And I have no access to the dropbox file you added ( https://www.dropbox.com/s/7t4jxzp5lty5jm3/Layout_Templade_01.mp4?dl=0 ). My question is could we modify a specified layout without creating a new one ?

                            Hi Gemini,

Yes, please send all ideas to Maxon "Share Your Ideas". Thank you for doing that. This is the direct way.

Thanks for any suggestion you share with Maxon.

The Layout video is just a short clip, not a tutorial

                            I hope that helps.
