Team Render Setup
-
Hello, I am trying to setup a team render with my 5 available machines and I am encountering unpredictable behaviour with the machines listing, sometimes and on a random fashion a machine turns into green, most of the time red, I am not sure what could cause this issue.
I have of course checked that all machines have same C4d version - same Redshift version - same operating system - No other tasks running or no enough memory - adding them again by removing then adding - ping shows no data loss - they just show up with grey notification, or connected but red, I also noticed that the machines status change between Team Render in C4D and Team Render Server
I am using a 10Gb LAN network with 10Gb ports on each machine, and nothing fancy is hooked up with the network settings
I contacted support, and their answer was kind of automatic, repetitive and I have the feelings it is an AI resond, coz when I asked for a real support ticket, they sent me again the area I was clear I already checked
Any way I can have an expert on that, or hire a Team Render Specialist to help me setup my render farm ?
Best regards

Hi resort-sand,
I hope this doesn't sound like one of the awful Chat-Bots or a copy and past reply: Sorry that you have to experience that.
Do you have a ticket number so I can address this internally?
The screen shot tells me that they were recognized, but then went offline.
Why is that would be my question?Since I am not supposed to do tech support here, I sit between chairs.
My tip, which has worked with Applications from Nemetschek (Allplan) even in the early '90s and, of course, with anything later on:
Take them out of any network, including the web, and connect them directly. A single cable allows for this direct Ethernet connection, which turns off all security for now.
This should work; if not, any reply that it could be a network problem can be answered with No.
Again, I'm not supposed to give tech support, nor do I even pretend to have a solid background in IT. So, test this carefully.
What I can do is pay some attention to this, as my understanding of Maxon is that it is a client-centered company. Was and will be.
Exceptions indicate room for improvement, which I hope can support.I know how it feels to be left in the rain with a problem; I hope we can fix this ASAP.
My best wishes

Hello Dr.
Thanks for your answer, unfortunately I can't make a machine to machine as a direct LAN connection because I will lose access to my Server where all my projects live. However, I found a solution that is so odd, which is to uninstall, and delete preference folders and install again on each machine I wanna use as a render client, not a great solution because artists will find their preference folder erased. I tried without uninstalling and by only deleting all preference folder, it didn't work. With this solution the machine appears green, connected and usable for team rendering, but after finishing the job, it becomes red / gray / unreachable or even offline, even if it is not
My ticket is (removed after copied) ... many thanks many times, it will really make my life easier
All the best -
Hi resort-sand,
Thanks for the information. I have removed the ticket number after copying it.
I have written to the Tech Support Manager to look into it. Besides that, I have asked the Training Director to consider a series or show about Team Render.
Fingers crossed, this theme will get an update regarding information sharing.
Thanks again for your patience.
Edit:
I had a little chat with the manager of Tech Support and checked the conversation so far. So far means, it is not seen as the final answer.Be that as it will, I saw where you are located, and someone in your City often runs a show for Maxon, who shares your location; I can ask him if he would like to get in touch - if that helps. Based on your success, I think it would be a splendid match.) /edit
Have a great weekend.
