Initial state mix rigid body + cloth with a connector
-
Hi there!
I want to make a loop with a simulation but first of all I need to stablish an initial state so here is what is happening:- I made the initial state for rigid body
- Made too the initial state for cloth object.
- Go to first frame and apparently all ok
But, this cloth is connected to the rigid body with a connector, and when I play animation is all messed up. I tried to make the connection after stablish that animation, making the connector points again, but still not working.
Any help?

Hi, pizza-revenue,
Please have a look here do have I recreated this problem correctly?
If so, my current idea is that two objects have settled into an initial state.
Each has some energy to move, perhaps in one direction. Smooth move, perhaps.
Now, they get connected, which means the given energy is redirected based on the connector; this is not a minor change.
Extremely said, that is like two cars that have a towing cable between them.Let me know where your scene differs. Project files are key; descriptions or images will not pinpoint the problem enough.
If the file you can share is too large, please only Dropbox, Apple, Adobe, Wetransfer, and Google are fine. Anything else, especially replaced shortened URLs, is ignored. Sorry, but I need to keep it secure here.
All the best

Thank you!. Yes I understand what you said. That thing is almost the same that happens to my file. So what you say is that when you apply initial state, the objects still keep the forces. What I did in your file is make editable in that position and start again with the dynamic tags, in yours is working, let see in mine.
Thank you!

Hi, pizza-revenue,
Yes, that is my impression. As long as the Connectors stay 100%, the energy doesn't change based on the connectors. So, the energy must come from the energy that the simulation calculates. I would say that the initial state holds old energy, but there is something working on it; otherwise, it would be static.
Example:
CV4_2024_drs_24_SIis_11.c4d
Press play and observe the slider Target Length of the Connector.
This is how I explore those things. Make little test scenes. Then, different ones to double-check.I thought about making it editable, but not knowing in which state they are when connected made me uncertain. I like to work with files here, not guessing.
This doesn't mean I have a solution in the "drawer". Sorry.Cheers
