      Hello,

Is there a faster method to delete old imported OBJ files in Trapcode? A while ago after trying to follow along a tutorial I attempted to import an OBJ sequence to use an emitter. On my first attempt I did it wrong and imported the 300 frame sequence as individual frames in the import model browser. It seems to only allow me delete them one by one and it's very slow. Are they stored somewhere in the system (Mac OS) where I could just grab the lot at once and delete them? Thanks.

      Kind Regards
      David

        Hi David,

As usual, I checked the current version before I answered. Any other attempt might cause you to lose time.

In the newer versions, I can't clean this up; even after deleting the source, the link stays (but empty, so far I can tell).

So, questioning my research skills, I quickly checked with the Product Manager just to provide you with facts instead of memory-based replies.

I fear you might have to endure this if you can't remove the source files directly and ignore the dead images in the Custom entry field.

Sorry to be of no better use here. I can't tell you more or anything about future developments.

Any push in the right direction would cause you to invest a few minutes and tell Maxon what you need. I have only one voice in this; any extra voices puts more attention to this:

          Hi Dr Sassi,

Thankyou for investigating this. It's a bit of a mystery as to where they are held. I've tried searching all through the system including invisible files but I've had no luck. I've also posted in the After Effects discussion site in case anyone there has ideas. I will also take up your suggestion to put it to the Maxon support centre 👍

          Kind Regards
          David

            Hi David,

Thanks for the feedback, and you are welcome.

Yes, typically, one would think there is a preference-text file somewhere and that one could hack the "ASCII code."

The real OBJs are easily found, "Show in Finder," for example, when on a Mac. My experience is that if the source file is not long connected to that "path" (deleted or moved), the "Show in Finder" deletes the Preview icon.

The problem of managing individual content is known, and that makes me hopeful.

            Cheers

            All the best

              Hi Dr Sassi,

Yes I've already seen the 'Show in Finder' option because it appears along with the 'Delete' option but unfortunately for me it does not respond. I've tried it many times but nothing happens. Deleting does work however, but it just takes way too long. Deleting over 300 individual files this way will take hours 😩 This is why I have tried to search deeper into the OS to try and find where the original OBJs are. I suspect the problem lies with Adobe because After Effects is extremely slow at various other tasks too.

              Kind Regards
              David

                Hi David,

Please submit a request in the "Share Your Idea" section. This is the most effective way. I typically try to find a workaround, but here I'm out of luck, and more I can't do.
