Hi Doctor Sassi, hope you're well!

I'm having a bit of trouble with the collision deformer, I've got a deforming plane waving about and I want a pipe resting on top of it, I just want a slight indent pushing down into the cloth to make the pipe look like its heavy.

I thought the collision deformer would easily work for this but I just cant get it to work.

I've tried baking the mesh as alembic and points then applying the collider deformer but no matter what it wont push into the cloth realistically, if at all. Ive tried all the settings in the collider tag too but I can barely get it to have any effect at all.

Do you think it might be the shape of my pipe object? It seems to work ok with a sphere instead.

    Here's the project file: https://we.tl/t-CDTlJK5A8w

I might try using cloth dynamics as well but I just thought this should work way easier.

    Thanks again!

      Hi MaverickMongoose,

Here is a quick setup (it is my day off, but I'm happy to look more into it tomorrow).
It works for the example scene to a certain degree, but perhaps you have other ideas.

The idea is to create an object that has an equal mesh and is used as a Field in a Displacer.

      Please have a look

        P.S.: I couldn't let you wait 🙂

Here is your file. Thanks for this

I explored it, and without it, I would have found the simple answer. The Normals of your Collider was flipped.

Since I write in a Forum, the sequence of deformers matters, top to bottom, in the Object Manager.

I hope that works for your needs.

Of course, I can't believe I didn't check that! I actually checked the other mesh at one point but I forgot the collider. Works great now, you've done it again thanks Dr Sassi!
