I set up a simple particle replacement using a Cube parented to a Cloner Object - using the Particle Group as the Object.

When playing back, there is a bit of lag where the cubes lag behind the actual particle. When stopping the playback, the Cubes snap into place.

Here is an image capture of the cube lag with the particle during playback:

Here is an image after stopping playback when the cube snaps into place:

Here is the set up with the Cloner settings:

      Thank you.

        Hi danphish,

Typically, I need a file; images do not tell me a lot.

Please cache the Particles if that precision is needed in the editor view.

I checked, and that shows when in editor mode here. If that is also the case during rendering (Which works here, so I can't confirm a delay) please check with tech support. Thank you.

Caching does remove the lag. It was only in the viewport during playback.
I'll be sure to cache to synch everything up correctly for viewport playback.
          Thanks, Dan

            You're very welcome, Dan.

First, I thought it was all about Priorities, going by pictures.
I tested it, and, as usual, replicating is the key, not guessing.

So, thank you for your reply!

            My best wishes
