Is there a way to apply a procedural texture to a light? For example, I want to create a softbox effect with a ramp node in a material editor and apply that ramp node to a light. That would be much easier rather than going to photoshop and creating one.

      Hi solid-honey,

I'm not aware that the newer nodes can do that… 2025.1 is needed

      Please try this
      CV4_2025_drs_24_RSsl_01.c4d CV4_2025_drs_24_RSsl_01.c4d
I have set the "Spread" to a low value to see the effect.

IF that is not working for your needs, you can place an object in front of the Area Light:
      CV4_2025_drs_24_RSpl_01.c4d
      login-to-view

Perhaps that is working for you.

      Cheers

@Dr-Sassi you're a wizard! It works with the new node system as well!

          Hi solid-honey,

Thank you very much for the nice feedback.

Let me share one if you don't mind. I was accidentally on 2025.0, and your push made me look into the new nodes in 2025.1 (Yes, I should have known that đŸ˜‰ . This thread hopefully clears that for many other artists, which I greatly enjoy!

          So - thank you!

          Have a great day.
