How to add a photo to 3d environment

Hello! I have a photo of a person that I want to build a 3d environment around. Blender has this nice feature where you can add a png to the camera and build your scene around the photo image. I was wondering if C4D has a similar feature. I much prefer to use C4d over Blender so thats why I'm inquiring about this here. My main software is C4D and Octane render, so it would be great if I can see the photo in the render view as well. I tried looking for some videos on this, but could only find backplate info.
Again, my exact situation is, I have a photo of a person I cut out in Photoshop and would like to build a scene around them in Cinema 4D and octane. If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks! -

I have no Octane license installed, sorry. The simplest will be a Plane, and the texture is placed via a Material on it, providing transparency for the material.
A backplate sounds like something that doesn't allow a scene to be built around an image.
Here is a project file that showcases it with Redshift 3D, and content for the Asset Browser.
I have positioned two figures into the scene for the for- and back- ground.All the best
