    Hello,

I would like to model this staircase:

I tried using a logarithmic spiral or even a cloner, but I don't think it's the right approach.
Would you have a better technique?

    Thank you!

      Hi piece-quality,

      Thanks for the image.

Here is all you need to create your version of it.

The Formula Effector has the formula "id" in it, meaning with each new Clone, the ID grows and each time about the P.Y value.
The "core" is based on the Object Movement parameter in the Lathe.

Let me know if you have a question about this setup.

        Hi,

How do you flatten the underside of the stairs? Do you include the central wall and a flat surface within the lattice?

Is it normal that I only have the photo and not the scene file for the last image?

        Thanks 🙂

          Hi piece-quality,

          Please have a look here:

It is the stairs and a Lathe combined.

          All the best

P.S.: Here is a more manual method. Either with an FFD cage or the Correction Deformer.

If the full circle is 360º and has 36 steps, I suggest setting it to 30º and three steps (for the modeling phase only) and selecting the needed points to match the middle one-to-one neighbor. The third one works as control.
The image hopefully gives a clear clue.

Is this the way it would work practically? Nope.

As a teenager, and being in a Draftsmen education back then, I had to draw those things and then build them on-site in concrete, which was, in my case, the full "circle" to design and build the house as the project lead.

The construction of stairs follows typically step format, and anything else falls into place from there.
Later in life, running an Architecture office was already done in CAAD.
            Like ArchiCad or AllPlan.

            Enjoy.

One more, as I wanted to share an element that creates a round and smooth staircase.

It is animated. Just an example.

                  You are very welcome, piece-quality.

Here is a simple but complete procedural setup of two objects to create the "curved" underside.

                  Then we go into modeling.

With that (Current State To Object) Extrude with Caps, (Offset 0.001) can create the top-side. Selecting the new top, pull it up in Y only, then flatten all the top side points (Coordinates).

                  Example, detailed, and MoGraph setup.

                  Cheers
