Cross Post to the RS forum

Posting here since I think this issue may be independent of RS and Taiao.

I want to scatter grass (in my case from Taiao) on a plane that has a material with displacement. Of course, Taiao generated the grass pre-render and thus does not follow the (gentle) contours of the plane in the render.

I suspect this issue arises no matter what one wants to scatter on a surface.

Is there a workflow to allow the scattering to be on the post-displacement surface?

      Thanks,

      Greg

        Hi GregBollella,

The information sent to the render engine has not gotten any feedback on the displacement.
The only workaround would be to use the Displacer Deformer. (Not the same, not as detailed, without extra effort.)

My workaround would be to use a Shader Effector with the displacement information. Note the that the Min/Max needs to agree with the settings.
        • Intensity (Centered) -100/+100
        • Intensity 0/+100
        • Same with the Height (100%) and dimension must agree.

Since I have no file from you here, this is perhaps just a guess.

        All the best
