Import/Export workflow for single Pose Libraries?
-
Hello
I have a question regarding the import/export of pose libraries into the asset browser.
I have created a library with some categories and poses stored in the preferences.
But when I export the library through the asset browser with 'create -> export latest version' and re-import the .zip file with 'create -> import asset' the library itself gets recognized and shows up in the Pose Library Browser but its empty. no categories, no poses. Is this a bug or what would be the correct workflow for exchanging pose libraries? Thanks in advance for your time!

Hi act-vast,
(…)
Perhaps I missed your point, and you can share a small project file here.
All the best

Hey Dr.Sassi,
Thanks for the response!
Lets say I have a control rig wich always has the same structure and hierarchy and is reusable on different characters. For this control rig I'm saving different poses in a specific pose library through the Pose Library Browser ( Character -> Manager ). Now what I want to do is to export this specific library of poses for this specific rig to use it on another machine for example. What would be the right workflow for that? I thought I could simply export the .poselib asset (stored in the 'uncategorized' folder of the database in wich the library was created). But when I do that and for example re-import this exported .zip asset into the preferences DB the library itself shows up in the Pose Library Browser but it has no categories or poses.
here is a small video to demonstrate my problem:

Hi act-vast,
I had the impression you wanted the PoseMoprh stored in the library. Hence, I deleted (…) my text above to keep the thread readable.
I suggest avoiding the Asset Browser as a "tool" to do it. Just take its support. In other words, create for each matching hierarchy a single folder, which allows you to easily read which folder belongs to the specific rig.
This folder will then be the one you use to store your Pose Lib files. This folder needs to be in the Preferences> Files List. The Pose Lib will recognize it.Let's have a little test.
Download the file below:
https://stcineversityprod02.blob.core.windows.net/$web/Cineversity_Forum_Support/2023_PROJECTS_DRS/20231108_PoseLib_Desktop.zipUnzip it and place it wherever you like. Then, place it in the Preference> File> List.
As a "scene," just create four joints as in the image below, so we have a completely new setup.
Open the Pose Lib, and the folder you have linked should be there.
The poses might be weird, as I have zeroed out the Joints. Perhaps Freeze them and rotate them a little.
"Select Hierarchy" if you use the Thumbnail Viewer in the lower right corner, then adjust a pose of the selected Parent of the rig.
Is this working for you? If yes, then you know how to store and share.
I have tested that with two different versions of Cinema 4D to see if they take it.
Cheers

I really appreciate it!Cheers

@Dr-Sassi I followed your steps and Importing your file worked flawlessly, but I don't understand how to export my poses.
When I do it from the Asset Browser --> Uncategorized, and Export Latest Version, when I import the .zip file back again it comes back as empty, with only the library name and no poses inside.
Could you detail the steps to export the poses?
I am using C4D 2024.5.1

Hi BigTree22,
Sorry for your trouble. I can't reproduce the issue of an empty file here.
There was a problem at one point.
