I would like to make a preview animation of a project in which I use animated textures (film on a LED screen)
When I scroll through the timeline I can see the animation in the textures but when I want to make a preview animation as a viewport render for my client the textures don't show up as animated but as a still picture. What am I doing wrong?

      Hi Dutchbird,

I have very little information about your setup. So, let's start with this file. Is this working for you?
An animated texture can be an Offset animation or a video clip. I have placed both into the file.

        Hi Dr. Sassi,

I used an image sequence as an animation maybe that is the problem.
But in Redshift it is better to use image sequences in stead of mp4 files.

          Hi Dutchbird,

Your question didn't say Redshift, sorry.

I'm under the impression that Redshift is not using mp4 or any video format. I would avoid MP4 during production anyway; it is a delivery format, in my opinion.

In the Texture node, go to General> Animation and click the Detect Frames button. It will show a result if a sequence is recognized.
          login-to-view

Then go to Material (selected)> Attribute manager> Viewport> Animate Preview (checked)
          login-to-view

          That should do the trick.

          Cheers

I just did all that but when I want to do a viewport render to quickly show the customer my ideas the material isn't animated.

              Hi Dutchbird,

I have put a demo scene together. Please use the Picture Viewer-based rendering while in Redshift.

To make a preview in Redshift, you can set the values very close to the quality of the old preview or Viewport render. I wouldn't have considered using the latter for a preview when you have Redshift 3D. I'm sorry not to have been clear here.

I have placed two suggestions into the Render settings. The little square icon in front of the Render settings will select those, not the name of the render settings, just in case for anyone reading along.

On a MacBookPro M1max laptop this scene too for 97 frames not even 30 seconds, (960x540)

Save the Render Settings, so you can call them for your Project.

Let me know if you can work on that with your clients.

                Thanks Dr.Sassi.
                It almost worked out.
Now my frames render in 40 seconds instead of 2 minutes.
I will just stick to viewport render without the animated textures. Or I can make a quick preview overnight.

                  Hi Dutchbird,

                  Thanks for the feedback

Sorry that it was not so much better for you.

What is in the scene that takes the most time? Can anything be set to a "Lower Level of Detail" or Perhaps Cached?
I'm happy to look into it.

I made a feature request. Fingers crossed, something will come up.

                  Cheers

                    Hi,
Sorry I can't share the model because I signed a NDA.
But I think it must be the glass and the reflections in it.
                    I will dive into it.

                      Hi Dutchbird,

A similar setup with perhaps some primitives might help. No promises, but I'm happy to dive into it.

                      Cheers
