I am linking the emitter position to a layer position but it drifts, To parent is a 2d layer and it looks like Particular is placing it in 3d space, how to I get it to set at 0 in Z, or is there another way? I don't want to create a null. I have hundreds of layers and don't want to have to double them all to get this to work.

      Thanks, mark ![Screenshot 2024-01-15 at 9.34.49 PM.jpg](Image dimensions are too big)![Screenshot 2024-01-15 at 9.34.49 PM.jpg](Image dimensions are too big) Screenshot 2024-01-15 at 9.34.49 PM.png

        Hi Mark,

Sorry for the delay; this was the first time in nearly two decades that we had close to a day a DNS server problem. Not fun for anyone to have.

There are three temp values; delete the third one, including the comma on the left of the third temp. See image.

("Yellow Solid 1" is the reference layer, change this to your needs.)

        Example

The position source is a 2D source, and to make up for it for the receiving parameter, Ae copies the second to third "axis", which moves things differently than with two parameters.
So, your observation is correct; the third one needs to be untouched for your needs.

        All the best

            You're very welcome, Mark.

Do you know the book by Marcus Geduld, After Effects Expressions?
Amazon has often even those for $10 (used), but they are worth it.

            My best wishes
