      Hi Dr Sassi,

Im trying to animate a slinky using the spline wrap, I've cloned the animation several times, then offset the animation with the step effector to make it look continuous.

If I bake the animation as an alembic file and clone that it clones fine and the effect works nicely.

However if I try to clone the spline wrapped object it just wont clone (even if I put it inside a CONNECT).

If I set the clone mode to RENDER INSTANCE, it will clone, but then the step effector wont work.

Do you think this is a bug preventing splinewrapped animation being able to be cloned?

I've attached a file with a few tests, none of which seem to clone correctly.

Any ideas? Or is baking as alembic the only way?

      Cheers

        Hi MaverickMongoose,

        Please have a look here:

The Instance version needs a little bit different setup. It becomes clear what happens when you make the Cloner Editable from the file in your post. They are all in the same place.

I am not clear what the Step Effect was supposed to do. Please let me know.

        Cheers

Did you switch the instance mode to muli-instance?

Basically, I want it to look like a continuous animation like the attached wetransfer.

I use the step effector to offset the animation to make it continuous.

But it seems I have to bake as alembic for it to work

            Thanks for the file, Ricardo.

I have set up the file how I would do it, no Step Effector.

            Please have a look here:

It is relatively simple; I guess you can see how it is done with a few clicks. The Keyframes are set to "Repeat After", so you can set any time or length.

If there are any questions, please let me know.

            Cheers

You're very welcome, Ricardo, but you delivered the initial idea. Thank you for that.

My best wishes for your project.
