super, these are two very good ideas to lock the cams to the take, thank you! I guess i will go with the second one as it doesn't clutter up the take manager so much.

Hi Dr. Sassi, yes i meant exctly that, choosing the take. So to stick with your scenen, once you chose "New Take.1" you jump right into "RS Camera.1". But once you leave that cam via the object manger, (by unclicking the selection icon to the right of the CAM name ) the selected Cam in tehh Take also changes. i wish the only way to change a Takes Cam was to selct it there, not by changing CAMS in the Object manager. I just thought maybe someone knows a way to lock that selection in the Take. But maybe i just need to take care and think of that special thing

Locking Camera to Take
Hi!
Example:
I have multiple cams in a scene and tell "TakeA" to use "CameraA".
I then highlight the take, so that i can work within that take... Once i leave the camera though because i need another viewing angle, or switch to another camera, i need to tell TakeA again to use CamerA and not the other one that i switched to.
Can i not lock CamA to TakeA? This is really confusing. -

I am not sure what you did there. Something about the Modify Clones Parameter i suppose? I wonder why the Plain Effector scales up the clones when its "Scale" parameter isn't switched on? After 12 years of Cinema 4d i still feel like scratching the surface from time to time.

How to Affect Nested Clones

i am a long time Cinema user, but i can't seem to get a seemingly simple thing to work. All i want is that a random effector affects individual clones in nested cloners... is that not possible? i dont want to make everything editable and put it in fracture, that creates more problems further down the road in my case. I would like to keep the cloners. Is there a way?

Hi Sassi, you‘re a legend, thanks for the detailed reply! Of course I don’t expect this to play smoothly. It’s just when I am, for example, looking at frame 40 and then click on frame 80, the scene takes 10 seconds to update. This just seems very, very long doesn’t it?

VDB loading times
Hi!
We have this rather huge VDB sequence that we load into cinema using the Redshift Volume Loader. One VDB frame has up to 2.5GB. The sequence is stored on a PCIe 4.0 Nvme which ( we checked) is able to deliver 7GB/Sec.
When moving around in the timeline it takes around ten seconds for the viewer to update. We set the preview to dots, switching to box doesn’t help either. Cinema takes very long to load these files. Is that expected behavior? What could we do to speed up things?
We have a midrez VDB as a stand in, but it’s not much faster and not if help when actually trying to shade the VDB to our liking.
Any ideas?

Watch Folder not showing HDRI
Hi,
i thought watch folders in the asset browser could display hdri images, it sure can in the databases, but not in a watch folder? Pleases se the attached screenshot, no thumbnail.... do i have to generate the thumbs first?

Hi!
Since the new 2024 version shador effectors with noise seem to be broken. I used to be able to add a shador effector, set it to noise and the animate it. The clones used to wiggle around. This is no longer the case... can you confirm? Attaching a test scene her:

Compute Device for Pyro
Hi! I've noticed that my RTX 2070 is running at double the speed and FPS as the headless RTX3080ti i have in my system. So my displays are plugged in the 2070
and the 3080 is soleley there for computing.When i select the 2070 and run a generic cube with a generic pyro tag i get around 8FPS in the viewport, whereas when i selct the 3080 i get only around 4 fps. I find that somewhat unexpected?
Any ideas why that would be?

Lights in Cloners are broken in 2024
Hi!
Lights in Cloners dont seem to work anymore. They render in the Viewport, but not in the Picture Viewer.
Running 2024.1.0 // Using Standard renderer.
Same scene works perfectly well in 2023. Is this a bug?
