I often get very large variations in the time it takes c4d to save a scene. Even with a completely blank scene the save time is around 10 seconds. Sometimes, though, I get the save to happen in a second or less. I cannot discover why this difference happens.

Even sometimes with complex scenes the save time is very quick. Most often, it's long.

Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks,
      Greg

        Hi Greg,

I have very little to go on. When that happens here, which might be completely unrelated to your case, I work on a computer with spinning disks. Those go to sleep, and I hear them waking up, then it saves.

If you have auto-save on, perhaps something else is stored already. There is information in the lower left corner, telling you what is going on, the task manager. (The OK Arrow in a circle)

Typically, a tiny change in the file (adding a null) allows for a new save. If that takes extended again for a small scene, then Tech Support should have a look into it. Even small scenes can have a large load, based on Quicktime files, for example, or storing produced data.

Typically I try to work on SSD-based computers, and I do not have that issue there. You might check with tech support:

            Hi Greg,

Fingers crossed, the reason will be found. Thanks in advance for checking with tech support

I checked the usual sources, and I couldn't find anything.

When things are not responding as they should, they bring us out of our creative flow, and I'm certainly interested in solving that.

            Cheers
