I am strugling with a Sweep thing.
I want to make a ribbon on two poles but it doesn't really work. What am I doing wrong?

I want to make something like this.

    But it became this.

      Hi Dutchbird,

      Thanks for the file.

      Would this work for you?

I used your Spline, created a copy, and moved the copy.
Then, I applied the Loft to get the main shape done.

For more adjustments, the Remesh works well, and the SSD smoothes the shape a little bit.

Perhaps consider the Spline to Chamfer and provide some Bevels on the Frame tubes.

      All the best

          Thanks for the reply, Dutchbird,

Please let me know how it goes.

Have you considered a texture instead?

          Cheers

@Dr-Sassi Thanks. I haven't considered the Loft option.
            It works great.
But isn't it also possible with right settings in the Sweep Object.
I am always strugling with this one. Do I need Banking or Parallel Movement or Rail Direction etc etc

              Hi Dutchbird,

              Thanks for asking.

Let us start with the Banking.
If there is any chance that the points of a spline can produce a "plane-like orientation, then that plane defines the orientation of the Profile used.
In return, each point counts if a plane can be established at all.

Moving a single point in that case will change anything. Based on my experience teaching it, there is the most confusion, especially when the spline is not animated to show the effect.

Have a look at the end of the spline Left upper in the perspective view. Press play.

              The profile orientation changes.

If there is no plane, meaning the points are all over the place, the banking option that relies on such a virtual plane can be shut off. Which often leads to a horrible result.

How that can be solved most of the time is done with Rails, who work like a target but along a spline in relation to the main path.
              CV4_2025_drs_25_MOsr_01.c4d
Parallel moves, ignores all of that and keeps the Profile in the same orientation along the path.

My suggestion is to mess with the settings of the two files, as I hope they provide some more clarity if the checkboxes of the Sweep are explored.

Let me know if you have more questions.

              Cheers
