    Hello,
I need to make a custom texture for a specific fiberglass screen material like is commonly used on windows. I've created a tileable 3D model of a single square of fiberglass, but when I bake out the displacement, normal and alpha channels, the result is far from appealing. Espcially with tessellation enabled in redshift. What is the best way to show this kind of material in high detail? I need to clearly show the screen at a shallow angle, so the thickness of the screen material will be clearly visible. Cloning my single square to any reasonable screen size breaks my computer. oops. Any tips would be appreciated.

Result from baking and applying to very thin rectangle

      Hi Larson Monkey,

      Please have a look here:

It works with "RS-Particles," and to optimize it even a little bit more, I produced a Redshift Proxy for it.

It should render pretty quickly, and you might even increase the mount.

I hope that provides some ideas to create your own, with the detail you need per "fiber".

      All the best

P.S.: You might check also the options to do it with Splines and RS Hair material (just brainstorming here)

Thank you Dr. Sassi, I had no idea about RS proxies. That is so incredibly powerful. Big tool in my toolbox. Thank you! I'll have to experiment with the splines and hair, that might work much better if I want to have the screen roll up or something, or have any kind of dynamics act on it.

            You're very welcome, Larson Monkey.

My idea is always to test things when I suggest them. So to leave the "brainstorming" about Hair is not my ideal.

Here is the file with an idea to create the Net. But also, since you mentioned simulation and the idea of keeping the structure intact while doing simulations with it.

            Enjoy.
