      Hi there, I'm trying to show a random number in the material of my clones. I've tried driving the TEXT field of a SPLINE shader in a Redshift C4D Shader Node, but I cant get the Xpresso right. I thought maybe connecting the index number the TEXT field sohow might work, also tried the RANDOM Operator in Xpresso as well but I cant get it to show a different number (between 1 and 10) on each clone.

      Any ideas?

          Thanks Sassi, I thought about using the multishader but as I intend to create thousands of clones I thought generating the numbers dynamically rather than an image for each number would be better. Do you know if there's a way to output a clones index number? I've tried every Xpresso node I can think of, maybe it can be done with Python I wonder

            Instead of a texture, use an object.
            Please note that the settings are crucial here to keep integer numbers.

              Thanks again Sassi, it just gets a bit crazy with thousands of clones, shame it cant be done within the material, maybe Maxon will add this some day.

                Would something like the Red Giant Universe Text Effects describe what you need?
                If so, could you think those things will be helpful if implemented as a shader? Just a wild idea of mine.

                  I think I'll just use the multishader with textures, but because there's 1000 objects that need numbering Ill have to make 1000 jpgs for it, not sure if the multishader can handle that many images, ill give it a try. Thanks again
