Attach Object to Alembic Simulation animation
-
Hello,
I have created a simulation inflation animation, which I have baked down to an alembic, and then added to a morph to give me control over the animation.
Now I have a new problem.
The asset that is inflating is a Pool Inflatable, and the client would like the animation to feature handles and the valve moving with the inflation.
Is there a way to bind them to the animation at this stage of the process? or will I need to remake everything? Thanks In advance

Hi tie-version,
I know you can see your object and have a clear idea of the new parts you need to add to it.
I don't, and in my mind, I can see many possible ways about their shape, for example.
The problem with inflating is that it requires simulation first, meaning the surface changes drastically.
Here is an example of what I have in mind, and yes, that looks cartoony, but I wanted to demo it clearly:

All the best

P.S.: Here are some options for elements on an editable abc file.
To see how it "connects" with the abc balloon, I have installed a "spy cam".

Post-simulation changes are not working as simulated from the start, just to point out the obvious. However, closer to deadlines, I know that kind of stuff slips sometimes.
As a side note:
There might be an idea to use the Polygon Normal, but that is a single vector only, a simple direction only, which has no idea about the rotation around the Normal axis itself. Hence why I don't use it here.Cheers

This is really interesting stuff.
The handles are solid ones, so I might need to look at how they can be solid using the same tool.In addition for the inflatable. In your opinion, what is the best way to achieve the thin seem effect that appears at the edge of pool inflatables? I feel like maybe an extrude, then use fields.
But I imagine this is something that needed to be added in the first stages of the process -
Never mind on the seam effect. The surface tool was perfect.
I will continue to look at the handle effect. But thank you again for your help. -
Hi tie-version,
Thanks for updating your question.
A solid handle is not an option to apply on an Alembic ballon simulation, as the handle would influence the initial results before the baking into Alembic.
With all that said, here is an idea to get close.
