    Hi there,

probably a pretty simple task, but I’m struggling a lot of setting this up.

I have a rolling ball which leaves a trail through a plane with a vertex map.

Is there an effector which can spread the trail behind the sphere a bit?

Thanks a lot, I can also upload the scene file if that‘s more convenient.

    All the best

        Hi table-state,

Thank you for the file. I will not send it back, as it is pretty large.

Images work only 500 pixels vertically or less.

If I get your idea correctly, the fastest way would be to use the Vertex Map and place it in the Field for Dampening Maps. Set the Value relatively high, like 500%.

The perhaps more correct way would be via plastic Deformation, but I got faster and cleaner results with the dampening.

I also tested other options, but the dampening seemed the fastest and easiest way.

One would be to just use a Plain Effector (Switched to Point Deform) and use the Vertex map to deform it into place. See image. Not sure if the results are detailed enough.
