I made an eye texture with Ramp and Layer. In the 3D viewport, the eye is completely black. Is it possible to preview my texture in the viewport? I'd like to animate the size of my iris with UV, but I can't see it as everything is black.

        Hi Pitchi,

        Is the
        Editor View> Redshift> Start IPR
        not working for your project?

I checked it with a Sphere and a Ramp to ensure it works (2025).

          Hi Dr sassi 🙂
Is it possible to see the texture without using the IPR? The animation doesn't play in real time when the IPR is activated.

            Hi Pitchi,

The Ramp is not a texture; it needs to be calculated.

            Perhaps solo the object.

When you adjust the ramp value manually, the play stops.

I got on my old M1 laptop with a sphere, a ramp, and an fps of around 200-300.

If it runs unresponsive, perhaps check with tech support
            https://www.maxon.net/en/support-center

Or change the size of the editor window.

I typically get good results when my RS Render View is open; I rarely use the editor view alone.

Ok thanks, and can i precalculated the ramp? or maybe the solution is to bake the texture.

                Thanks Pitchi,

I get your question; as the Materials are cached before rendering, why not have this in the preview available? I think any change would start the render engine to update those results (Which is what one likes to avoid by not having RS running in the first place).
This means the shuffle of data in the memory will stop and be made available for non-Redshift 3D use. Again, that is "my" idea, not the official developer's idea; those might differ; I have to inquire.

There are two ways to use a Ramp, "as is"or to "translate" (Alt Input)

"As is" could be easily reproduced in Photoshop as a small strip Gradient

The Alt Input version would always require a baking
                .
A Ramp cache is no available (AFAIK).

Thanks! I've managed to bake the texture with the redshift baking system, it works. It's pity you can't see the appearance of redshift materials directly in the viewport without enabling IPR. I remember creating orbs with animated noise and ramps on them, and I had to render several times to adjust the speed of the noise. Good day 🙂

I appreciate your patience with this, Pitchi. Thank you.

                    I haven't gotten a reply so far.

                    My best wishes
