startup layout issue in 2027
-
Hello,
I've been using my startup layout for years now, but when migrating to Cinema 4D 2027 I'm having an issue with selected parametric objects displaying in the viewport. In the screenshots, you can see that when a parametric object is created or selected, it displays in solid gray color, when deselected, it shows shaded fine.
Since I have more layouts based on my startup layout I use, it would be a pain to rebuild all of those layouts from scratch.
Can you check my startup layout in your prefs and replicate the issue?

I don't think it's a layout thing. In R2027 they've changed how selected objects are displayed.
Among others, it includes previews of polygon / point / edge selections of all objects. including backsides of objects. From the screenshots you posted, It seems that C4D is working as intended -
@Mart1jn Maxon team sent me a response on how to solve it:
The team identified that your layout contains a docked Texture UV Editor, and the shading change is caused by the UV Overlay display. This has been confirmed as intended behavior, although the confusing appearance has also been brought to our Design team’s attention.
Please try the following with your custom layout loaded:
- In the viewport, open Filter.
- Uncheck UV Overlay, as shown in the attached screenshot.
- Save your updated layout to retain this setting.
This should restore normal shading without requiring you to rebuild your layouts.

@Delphis
Thanks, that is better indeed. -
Hm, I noticed now that when I uncheck UV Overlay and save the layout as the startup layout, that viewport filter option is not saved.
After restarting Cinema 4D, UV Overlay is still on, and I have to uncheck it manually.It turns out that viewport settings are saved in the default C4D scene. Resaving the default scene with UV Overlay unchecked solves the problem.
