      Offset Animation Mograph.c4d

      Hi Dr Sassi!

I'm trying to follow this tutorial by Cineversity to randomize or just offset my clones which are animated by a Plain Effector (attached file) I cant seem to get it to work with a Step Effector or a Random Effector - trying to make all the spheres animate randomly or with offset to loop over the full 144 frames.

I was able to do this correctly by animating the spheres themselves rather than using the Plain Effector for the animation, but I was wondering if there was a way to randomize, offset and loop based on effector animation (if that makes sense).

      Thanks again!

        Hi MaverickMongoose,

Thank you very much for the file.

The Keyframes that need to be set are the ones on the Cloner child (clone).
The Offset is then randomized with a Random Field. The Scale of the Noise Field determines how random the Offset will be.

        With a few
        CV4_2023_drs_23_MGra_01.c4d
        With many
        CV4_2023_drs_23_MGra_02.c4d

The key is Min/Max 0-100% and the Spline 1.0 to 1.0 in the Random Effector>Effector Tab. If that value is left to default 90-1.0) then it looks less random at the first clones.

        All the best

Thanks Sassi, that's how I did it in the end, but I was wondering if there was a way to loop Offset or Randomize animation created by an effector? Is it only possible on keyframed geometry?

            You're very welcome, MaverickMongoose,

Using MoGraph for over 17 years now, I hesitate to say: That something is impossible. 😉

You should share why that is important, to have it with an Effector only.

Then it is so much more fun to put some time into it. Not knowing all the dependencies leads to not knowing if the result is beneficial.

Formula Effector, ID, Time, rnd(x:y), etc.
            Enjoy

I was hoping to layer on a delay effector some my animations had bounce, then apply the random looping to that. I guess I could just animate one with plain and delay effector animation, then bake that object to keyframes, then do the randomization offset. Just thought I could do the whole thing with effectors in a non-destructive way

Cool, thanks for the extra information, MaverickMongoose, so much more fun to know more details.

                OK, I'm game 🙂

                Here is my suggestion:

                CV4_2023_drs_23_MG_MGel_11.c4d

When you switch on Delay, please look at the movement and the rotation; those follow the overshooting. Hence the floor set up, to see the difference.

                Have a great evening.

Woah, that's an interesting setup! Never thought to use a formula, good trick!

                  Same to you mate!
