hello everyone.

I want to make an animation of cardboard box folding and doing a bunch of stuff. I thought i found a decent model, a good looking box. Rigged and everything. But the storyboard has quite a few shots from VERY close. So as you can see the model isnt' detailed enough.

I looked on cg trader - turbosquid - google?! For other boxes, where the texture on the sides is actual geometry. But no luck so far.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Is there maybe a site out there that i don't know about?

Atm I'm thinking of modeling it myself. but how would one go about to recreate this texture that's so typical for cardboard.

Nice! i found a tutorial that used the same techniques you're applying (the rig without sim). But i love the vibrator tag you added to create a little bit of life in te cables. I used a displacer with noise shading instead, to ad some randomness.

For some reason i always seem to forget you can combine keyframed animation with sim. Like your 2nd example with the vertex map. This was what i was looking for. Awesome! thank you so much!

Hello Dr. Sassi, thank you for your answer! But even with this simplified setup it still doesn't seem the right technique to use for animating a bunch of charging cables. (because the cable is jittering quite nervously and even though its aligned with the cylinder, after pressing play it immediately jumps out)

Dear all, it's my first attempt to create a tech-like object and i want to attach a bunch of cables. But im having difficulties connecting the rope with the rigid body. When a use a connector tag and start playing the animation the cable is never really connected to the object.

So i presume im not using the right technique. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Much obliged.
